Wanderer returns to set up Chesterfield's newest record store
Corey Lavender, 41, quit his job at Short’s Accountants last year to head off on a 500-mile trek across northern Europe.
Now, he has set up a vinyl record shop in Theatre Yard called Vanishing Point - specialising in soundtracks and electronica.

Hide AdCorey, who lives in Somersall, said it was during his walk that the idea of running a record shop really took off.
“It started out as the germ of an idea,” he said.
“I’d just read a book about independent record shops and I’ve always been interested in music.
“I also play guitar and have a little electronica project as well.
“But I started to realise that it was a possibility - not just a dream - to run my own record shop.

Of the shop’s name - Vanishing Point - Corey says it was one of several possibilities that people seemed to like.
“I liked the original film and the Primal Scream album as well - it grew on me,” he said.
Of his trip, Corey said he ‘had a blast’ and met some ‘amazing people’.

Hide AdHe did, however, have to complete it in two legs after getting a nasty bout of Salmonella poisoning on the way.
“I was laid up for four days and just thought ‘this is daft’.
“So I came home and I went back in October - setting off from the exact point on the road where I left off.
“It was really fun though and I met some wonderful people.”
Business in his new store, Corey says, is ‘encouraging’ so far.
“The shop can be hidden away a bit if you don’t know were here,” he said.
“But word of mouth seems to be getting around now.”
