Stockport County (11/2), Wrexham (11/2), Grimsby Town (8/1), Notts County (8/1) and Southend United (8/1) were all more fancied.
But the Blues’ early season form of three wins and a draw from their first four matches has seen their odds slashed and Sky Bet now have them as 7/2 joint favourites with Wrexham to win the title.
Sky Bet also have Town at 2/1 to win promotion and 11/10 to finish in the top three.
